BUILDING BETTER POLICY THROUGH EVIDENCE, CONSULTATION AND ENGAGEMENT
FBUA is committed to constructive and informed engagement with governments, regulators, policymakers, unions, industry participants and finance professionals across Australia.
Our policy development will be informed by the practical experience of finance brokers, independent research, member consultation, industry evidence and consideration of the broader public interest.
FBUA supports strong consumer protection, professional standards and a finance system that operates with integrity. We also believe effective regulation should be proportionate, transparent, accountable and developed through meaningful consultation with the professionals who work within Australia’s finance system.
Through its Governance & Policy function, FBUA will publish policy proposals, consultation papers, research, submissions and updates relating to government and stakeholder engagement.
CURRENT POLICY DEVELOPMENT
Australian Broker Protection Framework
FBUA is developing a proposed Australian Broker Protection legislative framework for industry and stakeholder consultation.
The proposed framework is intended to contribute to discussion about procedural fairness, professional accountability, appropriate professional protections and the long-term sustainability of Australia’s finance broking profession.
The framework remains an FBUA policy initiative under development. It is not enacted Australian legislation and does not represent current Australian law or government policy.
FBUA will seek appropriate consultation and stakeholder input as the proposal develops.
EVIDENCE. CONSULTATION. ACCOUNTABILITY.
WE CAN AND WE WILL build policy through evidence, consultation and accountability.
